SOUP is a project created in 2010 in Detroit, by a group of artists interested in knowing better their community. To do this they organised a dinner, an informal atmosphere where each participant could feel at ease sharing his/her own ideas.
SOUP is: a collaborative event • a public dinner • a networking platform • a safe place • a democratic microgranting experiment • a relational hub connecting creative communities • an accessible discussion platform • an opportunity to support local projects
How does it work?
> It starts with a self-financing dinner.
> During the dinner 4 projects are presented. Any type of project is welcome! There are no restrictions.
> Each project is given 4 minutes for the presentation.
> At the end of the 4 presentations, the participants discuss the projects.
> Each participant votes his/her favourite project.
> The most-voted project receives the money raised during the event.
We find this format amazing! For this reason we decided to try it during the Glocal Camp Modena: the dinner will be hosted by La Fonte, thanks to the collaboration with the association Insieme a Noi.
